During the first lockdown of 2020 I walked around this field every day. I felt myself becoming more and more intimately engaged with the plant, insect and bird life in the field. It is a very ordinary field, with discarded rubbish and lots of mud, but it's significance in my life at that time became almost magical and the colours in this painting reflect this.
